Chicago Neighborhoods: Logan Square Hangouts

Another neighborhood in the Chicago series is Logan Square. This place has been gaining popularity in recent years – both to live in and spend time in – and for good reason! There’s plenty of great food, hangouts, and nice people! Here are some of my favorite places that I recommend on your visit.

Revolution Brewing

A must if you’re at all familiar with Chicago micro-brews. The beer here is great and it is very unlikely that you won’t be drawn to any of the ones on their draft list. Come here for dinner, because the food is fantastic. Go for the working man burger or the fish and chips if you’re really hungry. Expect a bit of a wait (even on weekdays), but it’ll be worth it.

Emporium Arcade Bar

Emporium has three locations, but the Logan Square one is my favorite of the two located in Chicago. There are a few reasons for that. One is that Logan Square is just far enough out of downtown that it’s almost entirely locals and thus less crowded. Another reason is that there are more types of games to choose from. Although the Wicker Park location has lots of old-school arcade games, the Logan Square location has those and things like billiards, air hockey, and foosball. The final reason is the food truck. Yeah, an actual truck, in the bar. Every few weeks or so a different food truck is featured. The schedule for the food trucks can be found here.

Lula Cafe

My friends who live in Logan Square have always talked about this place. I didn’t realize just how good it was until I tried it. I can honestly say that this cafe is one of my favorite places I’ve eaten in Chicago so far. If you’re not sure what to order, share a few different things with your friends. Great for brunch or dinner.

Lost Lake

You may be familiar with this place’s River North counterpart, Three Dots & a Dash. Fabulous tiki drinks in fun glasses make any night feel like a tropical vacation. One of the greatest reasons to come here is the Chinese food from Thank You that somehow makes a perfect accompaniment to fruity drinks. There will be a wait, but I’d say it’s worth it.

Reno Chicago

Reno’s known in Logan Square for its pizza, but the other menu items are great too. Their rotating weekly specials make this place a great option for regular hangouts with your friends! Featured on Chicagoist and Time Out. Note: Cash only!

Intelligentsia Coffee

Intelligentsia is a chain, but it originated in Chicago, so it’s still special. Plus, each location is set up differently. More importantly, their coffee is really good, and their baked goods are provided by Floriole (featured in my Lincoln Park post!)

  1. These are my favorite to read. I’m super new to the city + winter has me staying huddled under blankets. But I’m taking notes and can’t wait to explore Lincoln Park + Logan Square as soon as the temps go up! Although this weekend is looking warm, so I really should get out there.

  2. […] Lula is probably the only place on here where you’re almost guaranteed a wait time, but there’s a reason for that – it’s phenomenal. I went here with some girls for breakfast one weekend and we ended up splitting 3 entrees so we could try them all! You’re looking at a breakfast taco with goat meat, beet bruschetta, and a skillet with brussels sprouts and fried eggs. Yes, I’m drooling too. Pssst – this place is also featured in my post on Logan Square! […]
